Viile Satu Mare

Perched on mild hills with a forest to one side and plains on the other, the beautiful Transylvanian village sits between Somesului Plains and Codrului Peak.

The village is placed in North-West Satu Mare County, 18km from Satu Mare City.  The commune also administers 4 villages: Tataresti, Tireac, Medisa and Cionchesti. Up to 1945, Viile Satu Mare was part of Satu Mare City, making it a suburb of the aforementioned city and it was founded officialy in the year 1430. The name comes from "viile Satmarului" (literally, the Satmar's vineyards).

Castle Vécsey, The Peterfy Joszef Mansion, the Lazuri archeological site, the reformed church of Atea and many more.

Enjoy activities in nature from biking and fishing to horseback riding or hot springs.

A local favourite fishing spot is Lake Medisa at the edge of the forest on 193C road from Viile Satu mare.

The place is also host to MTB competitions on trails with different difficulty levels.

Bio-gourmet vacations in the Satmar area

The Satmar is a larger area with a specific cultural identity which includes Satu Mare City and a region of Maramures County.

Tourists could endulge in traditional food tasting (cheeses, wines, strudli, nudli, country bread, zacusca etc.) and local foods with vegetables, fresh and dried fruit, jams, game meat, home made sausage, juices and natural syrups, teas, honey products and also Satu Mare's "Huszti" palinca.
